This is one of my favourite vegetarian dishes cos’ it is easy to cook with just a few ingredients.
Specially like the sweetness and crunchy celery which must not be over cooked. The tasty marinated wet glutton [mi kien] adds colour and texture to this simple dish.
You can omit the garlic if you are on vegetarian diet strictly for religious purpose, otherwise adding it enhances the flavor.
Ingredients
1 piece vegetarian pig intestine or glutton – sliced slantwise [marinate with light soy sauce]
200 gm celery – peeled and cut slantwise or 1 inch lengths
½ small red capsicum or 1 red chilli – seeded and cut slantwise
1-2 cloves garlic – sliced [optional]
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp cooking oil
Seasoning
- Heat wok with oil, sauté garlic until aromatic. Add in the vegetarian pig intestines, let it fry for several seconds or until slightly browned.
- Add in the celery and chilli. Stir to combine, then add in the seasoning and a little water.
- Continue to stir fry until cook through and the crunchiness of the celery preferred.
- Dish up to serve.
